Robin Covington
God, the master creator endows his creation with unique gifts to uplift, encourage and provide hope and inspiration to the masses. One of his anointed vessels comes in the form of Ms. Robin Covington. A native of Chicago, Illinois Robin’s early years were filled with music. Growing up in the fear and admonition of the Lord, she treasured those moments spent in church and in school developing and cultivating a gift of music to be used for the glory of God. Little did she know that those years would serve as preparation and fulfillment of scripture, a man’s gift makes room for him and brings him before great men. Robin Covington is the living embodiment of those very words.
A conversation with childhood friend Ricky Dillard while on the front porch of her parents? home that would serve as the spark leading to the organization of the New Generation Chorale with Robin being a founding member. In some 2 dozen years, she has travelled across the country as well as abroad lending her voice as part of the renowned award winning choir. Robin’s second soprano makes an indelible impression leading songs on various recordings with New G, among them Power In The Blood, He’s My Everything, How He loves Us, Stretch Out Your Hand, and the song which has become her staple, the Andre Crouch inspired remake of Through It All. Robin’s melodious and soaring vocals are captured as she reprises the song in the Covenant Medley on the Stellar winning and Dove Award nominated 25th Anniversary project, Amazing.
Counting her blessings, Robin Covington is now ready to embark upon a God ordained mandate to present her first solo CD Produced by industry veteran Pharis Evans, Jr., the project features original and soon to be classic songs of praise and reflection infused with a mixture of traditional and contemporary stylings.
Through it all, Robin Covington gives God all the glory for the many manifold blessings she has received, and when she is not on the road, she can be found in the company of the committed as a proud member of the music ministry at Chicago’s historic New Covenant Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Stephen J. Thurston.
